What
it Means to be a Young Republican
Hello, I am Jason Hayes, Chairman of the Nebraska
Federation of Young Republicans (‘NFYR’).
Welcome to our organization’s website.
NFYR is a group of ‘Young’ Republicans
between the ages of 18 and 40, who meet monthly
to share in fellowship, discuss Republican values,
and to meet with leaders of both our party and
government. Currently, there are two NFYR chapters
located in Omaha and Lincoln, with each organization
containing over sixty members meeting on a routine
monthly basis.
NFYR has been active for more than 50 years.
It has been a major force not only in local
races, but in statewide, national, and most
recently in targeted congressional races in
South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. NFYR has
a strong support base of party leaders and elected
officials who are former YR’s and continue
to recognize the importance of the “Young
Republican Experience” in training our
future leaders.
Why
do you need a ‘YR’ group in your
community?
A local ‘Young Republican’ organization
can serve as a vehicle for locating and recruiting
new members into the Republican Party. By meeting
as a group to discuss political issues, these
new members can refine and enhance their political
skills, while also increasing their knowledge
of current events. YR groups are also an important
source of volunteer support for local county
parties, by providing volunteers who possess
many talents and abilities needed to get campaign
tasks done.
Efforts are underway to establish additional
YR Chapters in the Grand Island/Hastings area,
as well as in the Beatrice community. Any assistance
you could provide us in establishing these chapters
within the areas mentioned, or in other communities
throughout the state would be appreciated. What
we need are names of potential YR members and
organizers. We will then contact these individuals
about forming a YR group, and provide them with
necessary resources in order to make the new
YR group successful.
Poll: Republicans Are Happier Than Democrats
Wed Mar 15 2006 10:14:36 ET
The Pew Research Center recently updated a
question about happiness that the National Opinion Research Center at the University
of Chicago has been asking since 1972.
In every asking of the question, ROLL CALL
reports, Republicans have been
happier than Democrats.
Republicans tend to be better off than Democrats,
and that is one
explanation for the happiness gap. But when
the researchers controlled for
household income, Republicans at all income
levels were happier than
Democrats at those same income levels.
As for ideology, conservative Republicans were
happier than conservative
Democrats, and moderate to liberal Republicans
were happier than comparable Democrats.
